Museum Of The American Arts & Crafts Movement
Beautiful facade supported by the NVELOPE NV1 & NH2 Systems
Situation
In 2021, art enthusiasts everywhere were anticipating the opening of the Museum of the American Arts and Crafts Movement (MAACM) in St. Petersburg, Florida. The $90 million, 137,000 square foot museum will feature considerable collections of turn-of the-century furniture, pottery, tile, metalwork, photography and more. In addition, the commanding downtown structure will feature a large library, events space, graphic design studios and a restaurant. Although the building was designed with simplicity in mind, it demanded a number of adjustability solutions.
Solution
Project designer Alfonso Architects chose NVELOPE to support the facade for a variety of reasons, but it was the product’s adjustability that made the decision a clear one. The NV1 system allows for panel expansion and contraction as the building withstands the various weather conditions along the Gulf coast. Not to mention that both systems are simple fixing solutions for the 60,000 square feet of paneling installed on the exterior. Over 40,000 square feet of beautiful paneling was produced by Trimstone and installed and fastened to our vertical support system.Â
The NV1 and NH2 systems are available pre-assembled with thermal isolators to help reduce thermal bridging and also prevent a chemical reaction, which could occur between the aluminium bracket and the line in a concrete frame. Stand-off sizes for the vertical range are from 40 – 300mm.
We work closely with NVELOPE customers to understand their specific needs in order to deliver rainscreen system solutions that fit their project, timeline and budget. We help you meet the compliance requirements of ASHRAE 90.1, prepare for an NFPA 285 Fire Test and overcome project specific challenges. Innovation, experience and technical prowess make up the core of our business model. Regardless of whether you need a standard package or customized alternative, our engineers are ready to support your rainscreen facade with the long-lasting performance of NVELOPE.
